Disciple Now

Cost: $40

No refunds will be available after December 10 as t-shirts and other supplies must be ordered at that point.

What happens at Disciple Now? Disciple Now is our biggest annual event for teenagers. Teens are divided by grade and gender and stay in host homes on Friday and Saturday nights. Each group has two university leaders who lead the small group Bible studies. We also have worship services that will be held at State’s BSU. Sam Collier will be our speaker, and a band will lead worship. Teens spend Saturday afternoon serving our community. Disciple Now concludes with our church’s 11:00 worship service on Sunday morning.

About a week prior to DNow parents of registered teens will receive a what to bring list.

If your teen can't stay the entire weekend (needs to arrive late due to a ballgame on Friday night or has a game on Saturday morning & will need to leave & come back), please list that info when you register your teen.

IF:Starkville
Feb

to Feb 9

IF:Starkville

This is a generation that is not just hungry for big faith, but for a big faith that is lived out in the practical, mundane things we do and the decisions that we make everyday. What does it look like to follow God and live out this faith in our relationships, at our jobs, in conflict, in suffering, with money? Faith can move mountains, but it can also change our everyday circumstances, so we are going to look at God’s word to do that in one of the most practical, yet misunderstood, books of the Bible - Proverbs. Proverbs doesn’t show us a set of rules, but a different way to live that is so attractive, so fragrant, flowing through our lives, actions, relationships, and work, and drawing people to Christ. Together, we are going to discover what it looks like to do these things, not perfectly, but in good faith, trying our best to obey God and His way of life.

IF:Starkville will be a gathering of women to watch the live stream of IF:Gathering2019 from Dallas, TX. In 2018, more than 2,600 IF:Local events were hosted and streamed in more than 22 countries. IF:Gathering Founder and Visionary, Jennie Allen states that the "IF:Gathering exists to equip women with gospel-centered resources, events, and community so they may learn more about who God is and disciple other women right where they are." Our prayer for the IF:Starkville event is that as the women of our community gather together, despite generations, denominations and cultures, we will have the opportunity to experience a encounter with God in a way that will compel us to like arms with Him in the greatest calling on earth- to make disciples.

Starkville Christmas Co-Op

Are you looking for ways to be #ForStarkville this Christmas season? Join with the Starkville Poverty Coalitionas they put on the first annual Starkville Christmas Co-Op, designed to address the symptoms of poverty beyond the lack of financial resources.

How can I help?

  • Donate toys: Now through December 9, new toys are being collected in the FBC Commons for children ages 12 and younger. Please be sure all parts are included and the gifts are unwrapped.

  • Volunteer: Sign up hereto help with the event itself, held December 12-14 at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

  • Pray: As believers, we have been instructed to care for the poor among us, and one-third of our county lives in poverty. Pray that this project would be more than a BandAid on local poverty and that God would accomplish his purposes through it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kathryn Entrekin with the Starkville Poverty Coalition at kathrynentrekin@gmail.com or (713)449-4918.

The Harbor of FBC invites parents of children with special needs to Parents' Night Out. This is a time for you to enjoy a hassle-free, cost-free night out on us! We will have child care for special needs children as well as siblings of any special needs children who are 12 or under. We understand how important (and how difficult) it is to enjoy a moment away when you are caring for a special needs child and want to serve our you in this way!

A few things to note:

  • This is a Christmas party for The Harbor. Please dress in your favorite Christmas sweater!

  • We ask that parents pack a brown bag dinner for all children.

  • Snacks will be provided. Please make sure to list any dietary needs.

  • We will divide the children who come into age appropriate and ability appropriate groups to make sure they receive the care and attention they need.

  • We will have trained volunteers to care for your children as well as several adults who work with the special needs population vocationally.
