Family & Youth Associate Position Summary


Full-time position working Monday - Friday in the main church office.

Purpose Statement: The purpose of the Family & Youth Associate role is to provide general support in order to maximize ministry effectiveness for FBC Starkville and to glorify God.

Scope: This candidate is highly organized, motivated, detail oriented and has the ability to take direction or vision and put it into action, providing administrative support and project coordination for the Family Ministry team and Church Ministry as assigned. This person is dedicated, focused, independent and self-motivated. Responsibilities may include screening calls, managing calendar, meeting and event planning, preparing reports and presentations, and providing overall ministry support. Sensitivity to confidential matters is of the utmost importance. Strong computer skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience and the ability to work well with all levels of staff are required.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and independence in supporting the staff on a wide variety of issues and tasks

  • Use computer and software applications to perform job duties such as but not limited to: enter data, retrieve data, conduct research, search internal and external databases, set appointments using Microsoft Outlook, read email, and send email

  • Computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other software

  • A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ

  • A strong commitment to the philosophies and mission of FBC Starkville

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to interact with staff, teenagers, families, and members of the church efficiently

  • Written and verbal communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly, directly and tactfully to support team objectives

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask

  • Ability to complete projects on time and follow-through efficiently

  • Ability to follow-through, keep check lists, and to think of solutions on own

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Remains calm and level-headed when faced with pressing needs

  • Keeps confidential matters confidential

  • Flexible with good time management skills

  • May sit for a prolonged period in front of a computer

  • Is occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds
