Preschool Ministry

A Place to Learn, Love, and Grow in Christ

Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me…’” – Matthew 19:14

Who We Are

At First Baptist Starkville, our Preschool Ministry exists to love little children as they are, model Christ’s love in every interaction, and teach God’s truth in ways they can understand. We believe every child is part of God’s kingdom work, and we partner with parents to nurture a lasting faith. Through Bible stories, music, play, and hands-on activities, we lay a strong spiritual foundation while providing a safe, caring environment. Together, we joyfully invite children and families to follow Jesus—Living Sent with purpose, love, and truth.

Weekly Schedule

  • Sundays | Preschool Worship at 8:30 & 11:00 AM | Children’s Building, 1st Floor
  • Sundays | Community Groups at 9:45 AM | Children’s Building, 1st Floor
  • Wednesdays | Stark Kids Jr. at 6:00 PM | Children’s Building, 1st Floor

What to Expect

When your preschooler (birth–Kindergarten) comes to FBC Starkville, they’ll discover God’s love in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. Through songs, Bible stories, hands-on activities, and play, we introduce them to foundational truths: God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Our caring volunteers partner with parents to build a spiritual foundation that will last, helping the next generation grow in faith from their very first steps.

Upcoming Events

From seasonal celebrations to parent connection events, our Preschool Ministry offers fun, faith-filled activities year-round.

Health Protocols

The safety and well-being of your children are our top priorities. To help maintain a healthy environment, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
When to Stay Home: For the health of all children and volunteers, please keep your child home if they have shown any of the following symptoms in the past 24 hours:

  • Fever
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Persistent cough
  • Runny nose

Allergy-Friendly Snack Policy:

  • All snacks are provided by the church to ensure safety and prevent exposure to allergens.
  • Snacks from outside are not permitted, except for clearly labeled snacks for children with allergies.
  • Parents of children with allergies must notify the classroom volunteer and provide an alternative snack option.

Helpful Tips

To make your child’s experience at church smooth and enjoyable:

Diaper Bag Essentials (Less is Best!):

  • Two diapers
  • A bottle with written instructions
  • Sippy cup
  • A simple change of clothes (just in case)
  • All items should be clearly labeled

Feeding Guidelines:

  • Bottle Feeding Only: Due to the number of children in our care, we are only able to bottle feed. Please pack plastic bottles with pre-measured formula and water for easy preparation.
  • Preschoolers will receive a snack served with water.
  • A nursing/feeding room is available for moms and infants—ask a volunteer for access.

Sunday Morning Promotion

  • We promote children to new classes based on age, maturity, and developmental milestones:

    • Individual Promotions: Parents receive an email when their child is ready to move to a new class. Class leaders may also share the update in person or by phone.
    • Annual Promotion for Two-Year-Olds: Children who turn two by September 1st will promote annually to their next class.

Check-In Process (Birth–Kindergarten)

  • We use a computerized check-in system.
  • Parents receive two labels: one with the child’s name/class assignment (placed on the child’s back) and one SECURITY CODE TAG for pick-up.
  • At dismissal, the tag is crosschecked before release.
  • If someone else is picking up, a photo of the tag may be sent to them for verification.
  • Adults must bring children to class and pick them up promptly.
  • Classrooms open 15 minutes before worship/events and volunteers remain briefly afterward.
  • All teachers and volunteers undergo a background check before serving.

Thank you for helping us create a safe, welcoming environment for your little ones!
