Student Ministry
Engage, Equip, Send Out.”
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” – 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)
Who We Are
At First Baptist Starkville, our Student Ministry exists to engage, equip, and send out 7th–12th graders who follow Jesus and invite others to come along. We believe students are a vital part of God’s kingdom work today—not just tomorrow. Through weekly gatherings, discipleship groups, and special events, we help students grow in Christ, connect in community, and discover their calling. We partner with parents as the primary spiritual influencers in their teens’ lives, walking together to prepare a generation to impact the world for the Gospel.
Weekly Schedule
- Sundays | Community Groups at 9:45 AM | The Warehouse
- Wednesdays | Student Worship with meal at 5:30 PM, service at 6:00 PM | Student Ministry Area, The Warehouse
- D-Groups | Various days/times | Locations across the community
What to Expect
On Sundays, students meet in gender- and grade-based small groups led by caring adults who invest in their lives. Wednesday nights begin with a meal, followed by worship, teaching, and prayer—a midweek boost rooted in God’s Word. Throughout the year, students can join D-Groups for deeper discipleship and be part of retreats, trips, and service opportunities designed to grow their faith and prepare them to live sent in their world.
Upcoming Events
From retreats and camps to worship nights and mission trips, our Student Ministry calendar is packed with opportunities for students to grow in faith, deepen friendships, and make an impact.
Leadership Opportunities
We believe one of the best ways for students to grow in their faith is through serving. Jr. High and High School students can take ownership of their faith and lead in meaningful ways:
- Worship Team – Sing, play an instrument, or learn as part of our student-led praise team on Wednesdays.
- Tech Team – Run slides, lights, or sound for services and events.
- Kids Ministry Mentors – Serve younger children during events like VBS, Trunk or Treat, or Easter Egg Hunt.
- Student Leadership Team (SLT) – Plan events, greet guests, and help engage peers in ministry.
- Service Projects – Lead by example in serving our church and community together.
Stay Connected
We believe discipleship works best when the church and home partner together. Parents are the primary spiritual influencers in a student’s life, and we are here to support you.

Baptism
We celebrate when students publicly declare their faith in Jesus through baptism. If your student is interested in this important step, we’d love to walk with your family through the process.
