The Video Specialist ensures First Baptist Starkville produces high-quality video content on Sunday mornings and throughout the week. This content educates and inspires those who engage with our church, pointing them to the hope found in Jesus, encouraging them to live sent, and driving them into deeper connection with First Baptist Starkville.

Job Description:

The video specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining First Baptist Starkville's video identity across social media channels and broadcast destinations. The specialist will be the primary live video director for Sunday morning broadcasts and support video content production during the week. In coordination with the Director of Communications, they will recruit and care for volunteers serving on the broadcast team and manage video content distribution across campus and throughout the week.

  • Establish regular office hours available to ministry staff, maintain a professional and courteous attitude, and participate in weekly staff meetings as assigned.

  • Manage the broadcast control room team, ensuring they are developing spiritually, professionally, and performing effectively.

  • Manage the video assistant, ensuring weekly broadcasts and podcasts are edited and distributed promptly.

  • Develop and mentor the broadcast volunteer team by enlisting, equipping, and encouraging qualified individuals to serve during our weekend worship services.

Experience & Knowledge Required:

  • Two or more years of experience in video production.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro, Audition, and After Effects.

  • Experience with ProPresenter 7 is preferred.

  • Knowledge of video production, including shooting, non-linear editing, color correction, and audio editing.

  • Knowledge of broadcast equipment in a live production environment: cameras, shading, switching, and routing.

  • Knowledge of broadcast video infrastructure. (Ex. Dante, SDI, HD SDI, Ross Video)

  • Knowledge of network and streaming video protocols. (Ex. NDI, RTSP, Dante)

  • Not required, but bonus points for experience with existing equipment: Vista EX Lighting Control Surface, Hitachi SKHD1800, Hitachi DK-H200 Genio, BMD ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4K, and Advanced Control Panel.

  • Some management experience is preferred.

  • The ability to function at a high level of effectiveness and remain calm in stressful situations.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Primary live video director for Sunday services

  • Support the production of weekly video content. (Ex. Shorts, Reels, Stories, Clips)

  • Support the preparation of weekend and midweek programming. (Ex. Lyrics, Sermon Slides, Presentations)

  • Prepare light sets for weekend services in coordination with the Director of Communications.

  • Responsible for producing captions for weekly television broadcasts.

  • Oversee the distribution of weekly television broadcasts and podcasts.

  • Recruit and care for volunteers in coordination with the Director of Communications.

  • Manage and schedule volunteer camera and computer operators.

  • Present for Wednesday night rehearsals and other scheduled special programs.

  • In coordination with the Director of Technology, provide support for groups/staff across the campus.

  • Willingness and stamina to periodically carry a heavy workload.

  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Personal initiative and resourcefulness; ability to act and resolve needs independently.

  • Able to deliver excellence with limited management direction.

  • Other duties/projects as assigned by senior staff.

Physical:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
