Purpose of Position: The Director of Preschool Ministry is responsible for the teaching, training, discipleship, and evangelism of children, ages birth through kindergarten, with emphasis placed on fulfilling the mission and vision of First Baptist Church (FBC) Starkville. This Minister is a contributing member to the Family Ministry Team and Ministerial staff of the church.
Responsibilities:
- Create, lead, and evaluate the education/activities for all preschool children, ages birth through kindergarten.
- Recruit, equip, deploy, and oversee all Preschool Ministry leaders including paid interns and volunteers.
- Disciple preschool parents to become strong spiritual leaders in their homes.
- Implement follow-up strategies for Preschool Ministries that complement the overall FBC Starkville strategy for engaging guests and the community.
- Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and community.
- Propose, develop, implement, and manage a detailed budget for Preschool Ministries.
- Work with the Family Ministry Team to implement policies to ensure the safety and well-being of FBC preschoolers, including but not limited to:
- Enforcing background checks for volunteers, interns and paid staff;
- Ensuring discipline and safety protocols are known and followed;
- Keeping media release forms for the children on file.
- Plan, develop, and organize activities for preschoolers, including but not limited to:
- Sunday mornings during worship services and Community Group hours,
- Wednesday nights
- Summer
- Forums to equip parents
- Mission opportunities for preschoolers and their families to Live Sent
- Family/Baby dedications
- Work with the CLC (Creative Learning Center) Director as they share the preschool ministry space and conduct weekly chapel for the daycare children and staff.
- Develop and maintain strategic opportunities for outreach that engage unchurched families and invite them into the life of FBC Starkville.
- Serve as the lead minister for Preschool Vacation Bible School
- Work with the Family Ministry Team as they co-lead large events such as the Easter Egg Hunt and Fall Festival
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- (Required) A completed undergraduate degree in education or related field.
- (Preferred) A completed or in-progress seminary degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a church preschool or children’s ministry; teaching experience will be considered.
- Abiding walk with Christ evidenced by spiritual maturity.
- Evident passion for Preschool Ministry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Forward thinking and goal oriented.
- Effective communicator with strong public speaking skills.
- Awareness of technology and social media and their use in local church ministries.
- Problem solving skills.
