Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor

First Baptist Church Starkville is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor who will play a key role in supporting the daily rhythm, priorities, and effectiveness of senior leadership. This is more than a calendar management role—it’s an opportunity to help create clarity, alignment, and momentum as our church continues moving toward becoming a Great Commission church.
You’ll serve at the center of communication, coordination, and preparation—helping ensure that ministry priorities stay on track, people are cared for, and leadership is equipped to focus on what matters most.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritize the Senior Pastor’s calendar, including meetings, events, and long-range planning
- Coordinate weekly schedules to align with ministry priorities and strategic initiatives
- Prepare materials for meetings, including agendas, notes, follow-ups, and key communications
- Serve as a central point of communication between the Senior Pastor, staff, and external contacts
- Track projects, deadlines, and action items to ensure consistent follow-through
- Assist in planning and executing church-wide initiatives, events, and leadership gatherings
- Provide organizational and administrative support for sermon preparation and speaking engagements
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, streamline processes, and increase efficiency
- Support a healthy, collaborative, and mission-focused staff culture
Qualifications & Characteristics
- A clear and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the mission of the local church
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to anticipate needs and stay several steps ahead in a fast-paced environment
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and trustworthiness
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with staff, volunteers, and church members
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Flexible, adaptable, and solutions-oriented
- Previous administrative or executive support experience preferred
Position Details
- Full-time position
- Reports directly to the Senior Pastor
- Works closely with church staff and ministry leaders
- Some evening and weekend availability required based on ministry needs
